California is home to many artists…
Many are leading and up-and-coming artists and the festivals in which they choose to show their work. In recent years, Wine Festivals, Art Festivals, and Art Fairs have become popular around the state. Here are a few to check out on your travels.
The Laguna Beach Sawdust Art & Craft Festival
This year marks the 50th anniversary of this annual event. Held over the course of several weeks during the summer, this festival is designed to entertain and educate attendees. Each year nearly 200,000 visitors come to shop along the sawdust-covered paths of the village that features hand-crafted fine arts and crafts. The festival also includes artistic demonstrations, glass blowing and ceramic exhibitions and a children’s art booth where kids can learn about and create art. Mariposa Fine Art & Wine Festival
Come out to this annual event to view a selection of local art, music, food, and wine. This community celebration is held each year at the Mariposa Historic Courthouse. It is an opportunity for the community to share the work and wares of the local artisans. The artwork here often reflects the local landscapes and environment that impact the artist on a day-to-day basis. Many of the artists are available on-site to discuss their work and the stories behind it. In addition to the art, meet with the local sommelier, bakers, and chefs to sample the local fare. The event is sponsored by the Mariposa Rotary Club and is seen as an important tradition for the community and its visitors.
